Boat Courses
Powerboating
has become increasingly popular in recent years, and along with this,
so has the need for professional tuition. We now offer the full range
of RYA National Powerboat Certificates, catering for the beginner through
to those wishing to learn more specific and advanced techniques.
All courses
have a strong emphasis on safe, competent boat handling.
RYA
Level I Powerboat Award
A one day
course providing an introduction to powerboating. The course includes
both boat handling afloat and shore-based theory. This course runs in
conjunction with the Level II course.
RYA
Level II National Powerboat Certificate (including the International Certificate
of Competence (ICC) Sportsboat)
Conducted over two days, the Level II award is designed to provide thorough
instruction and coverage of powerboat handling techniques. The course
includes low and high speed manoeuvring as well as shore-based theory
sessions. The Level II certificate is the qualification requested by many
associations and professional bodies as a powerboat 'driving license',
and is the standard required to apply for the ICC (sportsboat).
RYA
Safety Boat Course
A two day course designed to introduce the techniques used by powerboats
escorting fleets of dinghies, windsurfers and canoes, providing safety
cover and race management. Candidates must hold the RYA Level II Powerboat
Certificate, and it is strongly recommended that any rescue crewmember
should hold a VHF and First Aid Certificate.
RYA Advanced Powerboat
Course
The aim of this course is to teach boat handling, seamanship and pilotage
to the standards required to drive a planing powerboat safely by day and
night in coastal waters. A night passage is included as part of the course.
Candidates should be competent boat handlers to the standard of RYA Level
II, and have knowledge of chart work to the standard of RYA Day Skipper
(shore-based) It
is strongly recommended that candidates hold VHF and First Aid Certificates.
RYA Powerboat Instructor
and Advanced Powerboat Instructor
These courses
are designed for those wishing to qualify as Powerboat Instructors. Candidates
must hold RYA Level II Powerboat Award, SRC and a valid First Aid certificate.
One to One and Own Boat tuition Personal tuition is available by arrangement
for those with more specific training needs or time constraints.

and Certificates. Log Books can be purchased at our offices.
Accommodation Bed,
